We recommend using Energizer brand 9 volt batteries in all of our stun baton devices. We always use Alkaline batteries. We never use cheaper non alkaline or off brand batteries in our stun devices. Their shorter life span or more unpredictable quality could make all the difference of the device not being ready... or not. We prefer Energizer batteries in particular because they have been proven to have consistently long life and work dependably which means you can count on them to work when you need them.
